Tallow | The Sacred Fat: Rich, Replenishing, Sustainable

Tallow has been used for centuries to nourish and protect the skin, and for good reason. Rendered from the suet of pasture-raised cattle, it is deeply compatible with our skin’s natural oils and full of bioavailable nutrients that restore, soothe, and replenish.

At SALTF0LK, we use certified organic, grass-fed and grass-finished tallow sourced from U.S. farms. This distinction matters. Tallow from grass-fed and finished cattle carries a superior fatty acid profile that mirrors our skin’s own structure. It is naturally rich in omega-3s, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, which help calm inflammation, support cellular repair, and restore moisture at a foundational level.

Tallow also contains stearic and palmitic acid, which help to strengthen the skin barrier and lock in hydration without clogging pores. Unlike grain-fed or conventionally raised alternatives, our tallow is free from synthetic hormones, pesticide residues, and pro-inflammatory fats. Its purity and nutrient density make it an ideal base for sensitive skin.

We also value tallow for its role in a regenerative and low-waste system. As a byproduct of the ethical meat industry, tallow is not harvested for its own sake and would otherwise be discarded as waste. Instead, it honors a whole-use, ancestral approach to animal stewardship where every part of the animal is used with intention and respect. In choosing tallow, we return to a slower, more sacred way of caring for both body and earth.
